Dr. Md. Bokhtiar Hasan is an Associate Professor and former chairman of the Department of Finance and Banking, at Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh. He has been serving the same Department as a faculty member since 05 April 2014. In addition to the current role, Mr. Hasan is currently also serving as a Research Consultant in a research project on Impact investing at the College of Business, Abu Dhabi University, UAE. Previously, he had the opportunity to contribute as a Research Consultant in two research projects at the same University in 2022.

His career journey began in 2009 as a banker at Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd., followed by a position as an Executive (Research and Development) at the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 2010. Before joining Islamic University, he held a senior executive position in the Research and Development Department of the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Mr. Hasan teaches finance to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students. Some of the key subjects he teaches include Principles of Finance, Financial Management, Financial Institutions and Markets, Capital Budgeting, Corporate Finance, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Islamic Banking and Finance, Law and Practice of Banking, Business Statistics, Principles of Marketing, and Principles of Insurance.

Mr. Hasan’s current and future research interests span several important areas within finance, including Islamic Finance, Financial Economics, Energy Economics, Sustainable Finance, Commodity Markets, Cryptocurrency, Safe Haven, and Uncertainty and Financial Crisis. He has published twenty-one (21) research papers in top-tier finance journals (indexed by ABDC, ABS, Scopus, SSCI, or ERA), including Energy Economics, Annals of Operations Research, Finance Research Letters, Economics Letters, Global Finance Journal, Pacific-Basic Finance Journal, Resources Policy, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Financial Innovation, International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, International Journal of Emerging Markets, and more. Currently, he has 13 papers under revision or review in top-tier journals such as Energy Economics, International Review of Economics & Finance, Empirical Economics, Resources Policy, Review of Financial Economics, and Financial Innovation, with several high-quality papers in progress.

Furthermore, he has presented several papers at international conferences, including the "International Conference on Sustainable Finance and Green Fintech" organized by the College of Business, Abu Dhabi University, UAE, in 2023, and the "Third Symposium" arranged by the Department of Management and Engineering, Linköping University, Sweden in 2021. He has secured a number of research grants from UGC through his University, including two as the principal investigator and two as a supervisor. Notably, he received a research grant from SAMA, Saudi Arabia, for its Islamic Finance Research Program 2021 and a grant from North-South University under the NSU CTRG Grant 2022-2023. Fulbright University Vietnam has also accepted one of his research papers for a grant.

Alongside his research efforts, he has actively served as a reviewer for esteemed finance and economics journals, including Energy Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Annals of Operations Research, Finance Research Letters, International Review of Economics and Finance, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Global Finance Journal, and others.

Apart from those, he is a regular columnist and mainly writes economics and stock markets issues for Islamic Finance News (IFN, a Malaysia-based leading international Islamic finance news provider), DSE Monthly Review, The Daily Financial Express, The Daily Observer, The Business Standard (tbs), Jugantor, Jagonews24.com, Banglanews24.com, thereportbd24.com, Dhaka Post, and so on.
